
Chris Barsanti is a freelance writer, editor, critic, and consultant.
A member of the National Book Critics Circle and the Online Film Critics Society, he has been published in Barnes & Noble Review, Book Magazine, Bookslut, Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribune, Film Journal International, Film Racket, Film Threat, In These Times, Kirkus Reviews, Little White Lies, Minneapolis Star-Tribune, PopMatters, Publishers Weekly, PW Comics Week, Playboy, Rain Taxi Review of Books, Slant, The Millions, The Playlist, and Virginia Quarterly Review, as well as his own site, Eyes Wide Open.
His most recent book is What Would Keanu Do? Personal Philosophy and Awe-Inspiring Wisdom from the Patron Saint of Whoa. Other books include The Ballot Box: 10 Presidential Elections That Changed American History, The Handy New York City Answer Book, The Sci-Fi Movie Guide, Filmology: A Movie-a-Day Guide to the Movies You Need to Know, and several iterations of the Eyes Wide Open annual film guide series. He co-wrote The Monty Python FAQ (with Jeff Massey and Brian Cogan) and contributed to St. Louis Noir and Punk Rock Warlord: The Life and Works of Joe Strummer.
Barsanti is a graduate of Macalester College and Northwestern University. He has worked for film festivals, background investigators, and bookstores. Once a barista, he believes he can still make a decent macchiato.
